Nike Air Foamposite One "Psychic Blue" Launching 05/23 Colorway: PSYCHIC BLUE/BLACK Style: Men's and Kid's Sneakers

Release Date: May 23, 2025

Apr 18, 2025

Nike’s keeping the Foam wave going strong in 2025, and up next is a certified icy banger. The Air Foamposite One “Psychic Blue” drops May 23 in full family sizing. This colorway is smooth, clean and 100% summer-ready. If you’ve been waiting for another Foam to hit like the OGs, this one’s got all the right energy.

The molded upper comes fully dipped in Psychic Blue, a cool, frosty shade that feels like the sneaker equivalent of a glacier. It’s not glossy like the old “University Blue” joints from 2016. This time, Nike gave it a matte finish that makes the color pop without looking too extra. The Foam shell still rocks that beetle-inspired design with all the curves and dimples that made the original pair a neck-breaker back in the day.

Black nubuck runs up the eyestays and wraps around the collar, giving the upper a solid frame and making the blue hit even harder. The laces and tongue keep it simple with all-black vibes, and the tongue’s got the mini Swoosh and those iconic striped pull tabs — each hit with blue lines to match the rest of the upper. The color palette is the same on the black insoles.

Around back, you’ll spot Penny Hardaway’s 1 Cent logo stitched on the heel, tying the whole design back to its ‘90s hardwood roots. Underfoot, you’ll see what really seals the deal. The outsole has an icy blue translucent finish on the edges, fading into the foam midsole like a frozen lake. Not only does it look clean, but it also helps fight off yellowing (a huge W for anyone who’s been in the Foam game for a minute).

You’ll still find the carbon fiber shank plate peeking through the sole, adding that techy detail and giving the shoe the performance DNA it’s known for. And yeah, the Zoom Air full-length cushioning is still comfy whether you’re playing around or just flexing.

If you’re new to Foams, here’s the backstory: the Air Foamposite One first dropped in 1997 and was way ahead of its time. Designed by Eric Avar and the Advanced Product Engineering group, this was the shoe that flipped the script. No stitching and no panels, just a one-piece molded upper that looked like it came from the future.

Avar was inspired by the idea of dipping a kick in a liquid bath of material and having it molded precisely to the foot. The shoe took three to four years to come to fruition, but it was all worth it when Penny Hardaway made them his own.

Hardaway rocketed the basketball shoe to fame on-court, especially during his run with the Orlando Magic, and even decades later, they’re still one of the most iconic basketball silhouettes in Nike history. From “Royal” to “Copper” to “Galaxy,” Foams have had some of the most legendary colorways out there, and “Psychic Blue” might be next in line.

The Nike Air Foamposite One “Psychic Blue” drops May 23 in men’s, grade school, preschool and toddler sizes online and at your local Hibbett and City Gear stores. This will be a hot one, so if you’re trying to lock in a pair, hit up the Hibbett app to enter the launch raffle.
