Classic Anatomy Meets Solar Red Vibrancy
The Nike Air Max 95 OG is one of the most notable Nike releases of all time. The designer, Sergio Lozano, looked beyond basic sneaker principles and incorporated design details that represent natural elements. The wavy, gradient layers on the upper were inspired by the Earth’s crust, building on the idea of a lasting legacy.
The strong loop lacing system was influenced by the human body. Lozano built the shoe with layered muscles and perfectly aligned rib bones in mind. If you feel like this shoe has an anatomical vibe, you’d be right. The sneaker also has a visible Air unit, a quintessential element of any Nike Air design.
It’s impossible to ignore the richness of the “Solar Red” colorway. This is a “Reverse” colorway, so the vibrant red hue doesn’t take over the entire design. Instead, it’s used in the accents. The Air unit is red, the Nike Swoosh is red, the Max logo is red and the iconic lace loops are red. The rest of the shoe is a mix of black, white and various shades of grey. This creates a mostly neutral shoe, with the red details turning up the heat.
It uses red in a similar way to the White University Red Air Max 95, which is an all-white shoe with red accents. Another Air Max 95 we might put in the same family is the Air Max 95 OG Slate Blue. This one has a bit more color, but still consists mostly of neutral white.
