OG Heritage and Design Details of the True Blue 3s
We’re excited to welcome the AJ3 Retro in “True Blue.” However, the OG Air Jordan 3s hold a special place in our hearts, one that the Retro could never fully fill. Unlike the Retro, which features the Jumpman logo, the Air Jordan 3 OG has the original Nike Air branding on the heel, tongue and insole. It also has a sleeker, flatter toe box that more closely resembles the 1988 release.
One of the most notable elements is the iconic Cement Grey elephant print on the upper. It’s on the front of the toe box, beneath the lace eyelets and wrapped around the lower heel. Along with the elephant print that everyone loves, this Air Jordan 3 OG release also features the “True Blue that has kept sneakerheads coming back for years. It’s a rich, vibrant shade, similar to denim blue with a bit more pigmentation. The shoe isn’t overwhelmed with blue, as it only appears around the ankle collar, along the midsole and on the lace eyelets.
Most of this colorway is white, using premium tumbled leather for a luxe look and feel. But the elephant print and True Blue details elevate the look. Plus, there are a few hints of bright red along the top of the tongue and beside the lower laces. It doesn’t look complex, but all the elements have been thoughtfully brought together for a balanced aesthetic.
