White, Light Orewood Brown, black and Burnt Sunrise compose the shoe’s colorway, which weaves together Booker’s love of the desert and basketball heritage. Kobe Bryant is one of Booker’s heroes, and he created this retro-style shoe as an homage to basketball’s ’90s and 2000s era. While this sneaker takes on largely neutral tones, the textured, faux snakeskin Swoosh set against an off-white canvas quarter panel serves as the focal point.
The balance of the sneaker is white leather with perforations along the suede ankle collar and at the bottom of the lacing system. Mesh composes the tongue, contributing to the breathability of this package. Full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam makes up the midsole with top-loaded Zoom Air in the heel. A midfoot shank and sidewall cage offer stability whether you’re making a sharp plant or a quick pivot. And those hard cuts are made even easier by an assist from the multidirectional herringbone pattern.
A Burnt Sunrise “Book” logo on the tongue doesn’t try to do too much with its straightforward font; no scrawled name or graphic logo here. The multi-looped heel tab features a No. 96 and intimating the spine of a book — a fitting nod to the unfolding of Booker’s history with the Swoosh.
This four-time All Star is just warming up with his new Nike basketball collaboration, and the Nike Book 1 “Rattlesnake” men’s shoe appeals to basketball fans and sneakerheads alike with its sensible, performance-based features and nature-inspired design.
