Kevin Durant is known as the Slim Reaper because of his killer moves on the court. The Phoenix Suns small forward has clearly taken the name to heart with an upcoming colorway in his signature line.
The Nike KD 16 "Slim Reaper" trades the scythe for a basketball. This Grim Reaper-inspired shoe is about to haunt the court with its killer combo of black, Metallic Silver, Bright Crimson and Thunder Blue. Grab this shoe in men's sizes on March 1.
The upper looks like a midnight sky streaked with blood thanks to the morbid color scheme. Black suede mudguards and a TPU-caging system form a sleek base, while the woven upper is covered in red streaks. Blood-like splatters creep across the black, adding a macabre touch.
It's not all darkness, though. Metallic silver accents shine like moonlight, gracing the Nike and KD logos on the tongue and heel. There's also a silver stripe outlining the black mudguards that encircle the shoe.
The branding for this shoe features a shiny "Slim Reaper" badge on the heel as well as red "Slim Reaper" text on the insole. The medial TPU midfoot support also reads "Kevin Durant Sixteen,” while the lateral side has a simpler message in red: "Remove."
The midsole is a stark contrast with black and icy semi-translucent rubber. The outsole, of course, features a geared tread pattern with an icy blue twist—perhaps reminiscent of clock gears to remind your opponents that their time is running out.
Off the court, these basketball kicks can be surprisingly versatile. Pair them with dark wash jeans and a spooky graphic tee for an edgy street look. When it's game time, throw on black joggers and a skull hoodie to scare your competition.
