The adidas Dame 8 “Yellow Tint/Glory Purple/Signal Green” men’s basketball shoe drops December 17 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard is well known for his long game on the court. But he’s also playing the long game with the latest release in his signature line. He teased the new Dame 8 back in August when he wore it at an alumni game at Weber State. Finally, four months later, the shoe is slated to hit stores.

The big difference between the Dame 8 and the Dame 7 is that the former is now made of 50% recycled materials. You wouldn’t be able to tell this from looking at the shoe. The upper is mostly a mesh material that’s light yellow at the heel and middle and purple at the mid and forefoot. A jagged overlay—lime green on the medial side and purple on the lateral side—separates the two halves.

Along the lateral middle, you’ll see the traditional Three Stripes in purple. On the medial side, the word “DAME” glows like a flash of lightning with purple letters covered with diagonal yellow lines. You’ll see similar branding at the heel, with the word “DAME” again printed in purple, electrified font. The light yellow mesh tongue is curiously absent of branding, save an off-centered tongue tab featuring the adidas and Big Game Dame logos.

The Dame 8 also features Bounce Pro Foam in the midsole instead of Lightstrike. This change was likely to give Lillard a little more cushioning as he stomps down the court destroying opponents. In this version, it’s a deep purple color. Underneath, a light yellow outsole creates a nice contrast.

If you’re a baller, it’s likely these shoes become your go-to sneakers for the court. Throw them on with your favorite basketball threads, whether that’s shorts, joggers, a T-shirt, or jersey. With this bright color combo, these shoes likely won’t go with anything, so rather than try and blend in, go big and stand out.
