Pop culture phenoms were alive and well in 1984. Jake Ryan got the girl in “Sixteen Candles,” Prince made doves cry, and Michael Jackson moonwalked with zombies in “Thriller.” That same year, adidas introduced the first ZX shoes, a progressive sneaker with best-in-class technical details and a fresh look.
Always looking toward the future of footwear, the adidas brand recently breathed new life into the ZX, taking all the style of the OG ’80s sneaker and updating it to address modern-day footwork.
Meet the new adidas ZX 2K Boost. Offered in several colorways this sneaker silhouette will be available in women’s, men’s and grade school kids’ sizes beginning October 1.
For Women: Women’s Shock Pink and white shoe
For Men: Men’s Tech Indigo and Legacy Blue shoe and Men’s Solar Red, white and blue shoe
For Kids: Grade school kids’ Grey Fire, black and white shoe and Grade school kids’ Solar Red, white and blue shoe
In the case of the Solar Red, blue and white rendition, crisp engineered mesh dresses the sneaker’s upper while welded overlays provide stability and feature reflective properties — perfect for low-visibility runs.
A Solar Red-blue gradient colors the sneaker’s Three Stripes, a theme continued along the shimmery Boost midsole. Retro-inspired tubular laces weave through blue eye stays to contribute to the sneaker’s snug, comfortable fit. An OrthoLite sockliner lends additional comfort to both long runs and short sprints. A blue TPU heel piece and Solar Red tongue tag each bears the adidas Trefoil logo.
Composed of adidas’ Boost energy-returning pebbles in the forefoot with smooth, stacked foam in the heel, the midsole gives runners the springy energy and shock absorption they require. Get a glimpse of the colorful Boost technology framed in the black rubber traction pattern of the outsole.
Similar themes and performance engineering appear on the sneaker’s women’s and kids’ colorways.
