Back in 2019, Jordan Brand partnered with Lexington boutique store Oneness to drop a Kentucky-Derby-inspired version of the Air Jordan 1. Originally dubbed “Twist,” this colorway looks like it’s about to make its triumphant return.
The Air Jordan 1 High OG “Twist 2.0” puts a spin on the original design with a Medium Grey upper instead of just white. It also features black fur accents that are meant to mimic the coat of a horse. These sneakers are all set to drop on December 22 in women’s, preschool girls’ and toddler girls’ sizes.
Medium Grey leather covers most of the upper with ventilation holes inside the toebox. Rather than the usual leather overlays of the AJ1, there’s black pony hair. You’ll see this surrounding the toe, at the ankle, along the eyestays and in the main Swoosh on the middle.
The tongue lacks the hair, but it does come with a hefty dose of branding. You’ll see the traditional Nike Air logo in gray. This is the same gray you’ll see on the ankle padding and insole, which also features a black Nike Air logo.
On the lateral ankle of each shoe is the original Jordan Wings logo in metallic silver, almost making it look like a medal of honor. All of this sits atop a white midsole stitched to the upper with white thread. Beneath that is a black outsole with traction pivot circle patterns.
At first glance, these shoes might seem like an ordinary black and gray combo. But upon closer inspection, the hair really pops, so make sure you don’t overdo it with your styling. Keep things simple with tapered jeans or joggers and a cropped hoodie. For your little ones, try leggings or shorts along with the jersey of their favorite player (who should obviously be His Airness).
Whether you wear them to the Derby or on a trip around town, the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Twist 2.0” will become the highlight of your collection. Grab them starting December 22 in women’s, preschool girls’ and toddler girls’ sizes online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear. And if you happen to miss the drop?
