The Jordan 13 Retro “Black/Court Purple/White” colorway drops in full family sizing – men’s, grade school, preschool and toddler – starting on January 8.

They say purple is the color of royalty, so it makes sense that Jordan Brand is dropping a shoe featuring this hue. Michael Jordan – aka His Airness – was the king of the court during his years with the Chicago Bulls, so why not celebrate it?

The Air Jordan Retro 13 “Court Purple” colorway comes in a purple and black palette that features color blocking like the “Bred” colorway.

Deep purple suede acts as the base layer for the upper, and it shows through in wavy shapes along the heel and on the middle into the midsole. At the shoe’s toe, a textured black leather looks smooth to the touch. You’ll find a black mesh dimpled overlay covering most of the rest of the shoe, including the laces and ankle. This mesh layer is asymmetrical so you never know which way it’s going to go, much like MJ on the court.

Black laces cover the black tongue, which features a purple Jumpman. There’s also a white “Jordan” at the bottom of the laces. On the lateral ankle is a circular green hologram that showcases the GOAT’s number “23.” Beneath all this, the black outsole features patches of white herringbone treading for increased traction.

The Jordan 13 came at a time in Jordan’s career when he needed a little more padding due to knee pain. This extra support makes this a great shoe for wearing around town when you want to look your best. Pair it with some fresh jeans for a casual look, or go with basketball shorts for a more active vibe.
