2020 hasn’t been the luckiest of years, but with the help of the Jordan Brand, our luck may beginning to turn. The “Lucky Green” Air Jordan 13 drops in a white, black and — you guessed it — Lucky Green colorway beginning September 26. The shoes will launch in toddler, preschool, grade school kids’ and men’s sizes, giving wearers of all ages the luck o’ the Jumpman.
Smooth white leather covers the shoe’s toe box, while prominent tumbled leather overlays with stitched-on circles contribute to the sneaker’s clean aesthetic. A series of breathable perforations stud the shoe’s throat, giving way to a generously padded tongue that features a Lucky Green embroidered Jumpman insignia.
The base and heel of the upper, along with the sneaker’s midsole, features an infusion of cheerful Lucky Green suede, which pairs well with the hologram logo on the shoes’ lateral sides. Reflective 3M detailing subtly trims the basketball sneakers, offering the slightest glimpse of flash on the court, the playground, in the classroom or in the streets.
Black grounds the shoe, outlining the outsole’s classic paw-like pods and dressing the sockliner. Those rubber pods provide superior grip and strategically placed traction, perfect for sneakerheads and players of any age. Zoom units in the heel and forefoot contribute to the sneaker’s low-profile cushioning.
In 2011, the Jordan brand rolled out the AJ 13 Retro in a “Three Point Record” PE colorway reminiscent of this “Lucky Green” rendition. That shoe paid tribute to the prolific Celtics’ three-point shooter Ray Allen.
Tinker Hatfield originally designed the AJ 13 as an homage to Michael Jordan’s stealthy, cat-like moves on the court, but like so many other Jordan sillhouettes, this sleek sneaker has transcended its use on the court. Now boys and men of all ages, be they ballers themselves or enthusiastic fans, can tap into a bit of good fortune with “Lucky Green” Air Jordan 13 Retro, available starting September 26 at Hibbett | City Gear.
