The Jordan Retro 9 “Fire Red” drops December 13 in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes at Hibbett | City Gear.

The Air Jordan 9 is famous for being the first shoe released after Jordan’s initial retirement. While the basketball world was stunned by his departure, he was still churning out amazing kicks we love to this day. The white, Fire Red and Cool Grey color scheme looks as classic as MJ’s eventual return to the NBA.

A white leather upper features iconic stitching patterns across the middle that give off a quilted look. Beneath that, a shiny gray leather overlay blends in seamlessly with the gray midsole. There’s another shiny gray overlay around the ankle and heel that connects in the back.

A bright “23” is embroidered in red thread on the heel overlay. Above that is a red Jumpman emblem on top of a globe. Attached is a red heel tab that makes it easier to slip the shoe on and off.

The white tongue transitions to gray at the branding, which reads “Air Jordan” in a red font. Gray laces attach to red eyelets for a stellar contrast. The outsole is also white and features a red Jumpman on the lateral heel.

The bottom of the outsole has a unique flair courtesy of designers Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith. Each shoe features words in a different language that tell the story of basketball becoming a global game. It’s meant to be a testament to how His Airness lives on and off the court.
