New Orleans Pelicans’ Zion Williamson is one of those seemingly rare celebs known for his down-to-earth persona despite his well-earned successes. This Gen-Z wunderkind has achieved what few in the pantheon of NBA greats have — a signature sneaker line under the Jumpman brand.

Beginning July 1, the Jordan Zion 1 “Bloodline” drops in a white, black and red colorway. Available in toddler, preschool, grade school and men’s sizes, the Zion 1 will purportedly tie into Williamson’s heritage — similar to his “Marion” and “Noah” releases honoring his mother and brother, respectively.

A stiff heel counter lends structure to the shoe’s upper, which mixes lightweight mesh with TPU-coated stitching. The upper’s aesthetically pleasing design also cleverly hugs the foot in all the right places, with help from a forefoot fit band and snug lacing system. Generous padding at the collar and a thinner, more flexible tongue allow even the littlest feet a full range of motion.

The lightly textured midsole gives way to a contoured outsole with an aggressive traction pattern. The basketball shoe showcases Williamson’s “Zion” logo, and Jordan branding appears at the bottom of the lacing system, on one shoe’s tongue and an outsole medallion.

At once sleek and comfortable, the Jordan Zion 1 offers unmatched responsiveness. A soft, flexible foam makes for effortless moves during those Saturday morning youth basketball games or Friday night games of pickup. Perhaps the most comfort-contributing feature of these basketball sneakers is the innovative cushioning. A full-length Air Strobel system works in cooperation with a forefoot Zoom Air unit, compressing and bouncing back for quick, clean moves.
