Since being drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019, power forward Zion Williamson has become one of the league’s brightest stars. Now that he’s locked into a new five-year rookie extension with the team, it seems time to celebrate with a special colorway.

The Jordan Zion 2 “Pelicans” is a nod to his team, with a color scheme of Coconut Milk, Pomegranate and Midnight Navy. It’s just the shoe to wear when you take the court and want to fly like Zion. And luckily, it’s dropping in sizes for the whole family, with kicks for men, grade school kids, preschool kids and toddler kids, starting November 17.

The upper is a light cream with mesh along the toe box and vamp. You’ll see perforated cream leather along the middle, along with a perforated leather overlay at the heel — red on the left foot, and navy on the right. A Coconut Milk leather forefoot strap locks down the foot for evasive action. It features navy Zoom Air branding along with red Velcro.

The tongue of the shoe also alternates between feet. On the left foot, there’s a red tongue with navy ankle padding. However, the right foot has a navy tongue with red ankle padding. Both feature the Zion logo in gold and white, with contrasting outlining. The left shoe comes with a red insole featuring a “ZW” logo, while the right shoe has a navy insole with a flying Jumpman.

The heel offers other contrasting details. On the left, there’s another white Jumpman, outlined in both gold and navy. Beneath this, embedded in the gummy midsole, is navy Air Strobel branding. On the right is white Williamson branding, this time with gold and red outlining. And likewise, beneath it is a red bit of branding that says “Let’s Dance.”

The midsole itself is chunky and fluctuates between cream at the front of the shoe, red or navy toward the midfoot and gummy tan at the heel. Under that, the gummy outsole offers Zion branding in navy.

Whether you need basketball kicks for yourself or your pint-sized amateur, these shoes fit the bill. Pair them with your favorite basketball shorts and jersey. You might even try wearing them to a Pelicans game on the off chance they call you on court — but otherwise, we’d recommend them for game action only.
