The shoe that started it all, the Air Jordan 1, has long been a coveted item in many sneakerhead’s closets. Now, the MJ-inspired basketball design is re-releasing a colorway we haven’t seen since 2015.
The AJ Retro 1 High “Lost and Found” puts a spin on the 1994 colorway “Chicago.” It won’t be a true retro, as it does have slight modifications to modernize it. However, it’s as close as we’re bound to get to the OG 1985 design. It drops in men’s, grade school kids’, preschool kids’, toddler kids’ and infant kids’ sizes on November 19.
You may notice this shoe looks a bit worn down. That’s because Jordan purposely added in some lived-in touches to make it look like these are OG shoes. Pre-worn packaging makes it seem like you’re unwrapping a stored-away legend, while distressed details along the black leather collar and base give off an aged look.
Otherwise, the base of the shoe is your standard white leather — though this also has slight cracking to emulate years of wear. Smooth red leather overlays wrap around the toe box, eyestays, ankle and heel.
The lateral ankle showcases the original Jordan Wings logo in black. You’ll also see red and white Nike Air branding on the tongue. The rest of the tongue is slightly off-white, as are the laces that cover it. A large black Swoosh flows across the middle. This sits above an off-white midsole that looks slightly discolored from use. Beneath that is a red outsole with classic pivot circle traction.
Since this shoe is doing all it can to look like it’s from the ’80s, that’s how we recommend styling this look as well. It would look great with a neon windbreaker — or perhaps one with red and black accents. Throw on a pair of baggy white-washed jeans, and you’ll look like you belong on the b-ball-loving streets.
One thing’s for sure — you need a little red, white and black in your life. Satiate that need with the AJ Retro 1 High “Lost and Found.” You can grab it in the following sizes starting November 19, online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear:
