The Jordan Zion 2 “Bloodline” University Red/Black/Bright Crimson colorway launches in men’s, grade school, preschool and toddler sizes January 12 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Since the launch of the Jordan Zion 2 last year, we’ve seen quite a few colorways — but it looks like the New Orleans Pelicans power forward isn’t done dropping new styles yet.

The AJ Zion 2 in University Red, Bright Crimson and black is perhaps a nod to the Pelicans Statement Edition Red uniforms. These jerseys are featured during the team’s Red Out games, where the fans join in for a sea of red in the stands. These shoes will be a great accompaniment if you get tickets to a game. And best of all, they’re dropping in full family sizes, with options for men, grade school kids, preschool kids and toddler kids, on January 12.

The upper is mostly red, with several different overlays to add texture. A red suede Velcro strap with ventilation holes scattered throughout covers the forefoot, with black Zoom Air branding on the lateral end. The other side of the overlay features a small black Jumpman.

A similar red suede upper covers the middle while also helping to lock down the top of the laces as an eye stay. The rest of the black laces attach to a separate red suede eyestay. The toe box features a red mesh that looks to offer good ventilation in tough times. There’s a bit more suede at the top of the toe, which then transitions into a red midsole.

This midsole continues unabated to the heel, where it abruptly changes to black. The upper changes here as well, covered with a black suede overlay wrapping around the heel. This features a Jumpman patch outlined in red. On the back of the heel, the black midsole has two small red inserts reading AIR Strobel on the left shoe and Let’s Dance on the right shoe.

You’ll notice Zion’s trademark branding in red and black on the tongue. His insignia also appears in red on the black insole. It repeats one more time in red on the yellow outsole, in a very linear pattern that feels very groovy.

These shoes are great for on-court wear, so throw them on with black crew socks, black basketball shorts and your team’s jersey to get in the game. While they’d be sick to wear at a Red Out game, since they are basketball shoes, you’re probably best limiting your wear to the hardwood.
