Sneakers Release – Nike Air Max “Running Club” Air Max 90, Air Max 95 SE & Air Max 97 SE Men’s Shoes Launching 11/18

Nov 15, 2021

These days, running clubs are a dime a dozen, but they weren’t always so popular. It all started with the Athletics West run club. It was formed by the co-founders of Nike in 1977 and is likely responsible for the running craze of the ’70s — and beyond.

To commemorate this historical run club, Nike is launching a few updating a few of the running world’s favorite classics. The “Running Club” collection, dropping on November 18, includes new colorways of the Air Max 90 SE, Air Max 95 SE and Air Max 97 SE. While each shoe features different colors, they’re all retro in nature when it comes to materials and colorblocking.

First up is the Air Max 90 in a Roma Green, Sail, Mean Green and orange colorway. It looks like it walked straight out of the ’70s with a suede red midsole and dark green toe. The toe box is a lighter green and contrasts sharply with the orange and yellow of the lace box. Branding tags on the lateral ankles read “AMRC”and “BVRTN, OR,” and there’s also retro branding on the tongue and heel.

The ’70s aesthetic had a lot of wavy designs that are present in the Air Max 95 colorway. It comes in a Light Photo Blue, Roma Green and black colorway. Suede shades of green, orange and blue squiggle in rows across the side of the shoe, much like a retro curtain. A blue suede toe box keeps things from getting overwhelmed, while the white midsole helps the shoe stay grounded. You’ll see similar lateral ankle tags, tongue branding and heel branding.

Last but not least, the Air Max 97 stays on the wavy train with a more earthy palette. It uses a mix of Pollen, Photo Blue and orange as its primary colors. The main base color is a suede orange, but narrow stripes of red, orange and blue surround the shoe above it. A white midsole and black outsole keep things from being over the top, while a classic red Nike Swoosh stands out on a blue overlay on the lateral side. Like the other shoes, there are lateral tags and retro branding on the tongue and heel.

If you’re a hardcore fan of the history of running, these are a must. Pair them with your other retro threads, like a throwback hoodie or an antique pair of basketball shorts, for a truly iconic look.

Let your running spirit shine through with the new “Running Club” collection. Grab the Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Max 95 and Nike Air Max 97 in men’s sizes starting November 18 online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
