Earlier this month, Under Armour launched the debut colorway of the brand’s newest signature sneaker collection, a collaboration with 76ers center Joel Embiid. On October 23, the Under Armour Embiid 1 is back in a new colorway — the “Versa Red,” white and Halo Gray colorway dropping in men’s and grade school boys’ sizes at Hibbett | City Gear!

Joel Embiid anointed himself “The Process” as in “trust the process,” a piece of strategic advice given by a former 76ers player and a general manager, and paramount to his process in becoming an NBA superstar are the ability to move faster, react quicker and feel lighter.

It was those three things that played most heavily into the Embiid 1’s overal design. To create a shoe that facilitated lightning-fast play and instantaneous reactions, Under Armour employed an upper composed of mesh layers and a molded, hollowed-out leather for a balance of flexibility, structure and breathability. TPU support wings and other, more subtle TPU pieces along the upper bolster the foot’s stability.

Under Armour’s signature Micro G Foam contributes to the complete control and energy-returning comfort of the shoe. At the same time, the stacked HOVR technology at the heel offers lightweight impact absorption, enabling fast, effortless-looking plays in the heat of the game.

Underfoot, the rubber outsole provides a tough, durable feel while circular flex grooves set into the rubber offer improved grip. Other key details of the sneaker include a padded ankle collar, tongue padding and a detachable sockliner that molds to the foot.
