The World Games 2022

Birmingham will host the World Games next summer, becoming only the second city in the United States to host the World Games in its 40-year history. Hibbett | City Gear is excited to announce a partnership with The World Games 2022 that will create several vivid murals painted by local Birmingham area artists with the theme “It’s the Right Time.”

The World Games is an extraordinary, international sports event held every four years, in the year following each Summer Olympic Games. The Games represents the pinnacle of competition for 3,600 of the world’s best athletes. Marking The World Games’ 40th anniversary, this will be the first edition of the event to be hosted in the United States since the inaugural World Games in Santa Clara, California, in 1981. For more information visit TWG2022.com or Facebook, Instagram orTwitter.

This 12,000 square foot mural was designed in collaboration with Briarwood's Honors Art Students and painted in three days by over 80 school artists. The design of the World Games Mural reflects the coming together of all the world in the spirit of competition. Each sport included in the World Games is represented through icon imagery placed on colorful tiles. The theme “It’s the Right Time to Love One Another” is embodied by the movement of the tiles “floating” in water from the center of the fountain in harmony.
