There’s been plenty of noise from big sneaker brands in 2020. And with its bold new lineup of sneakers, New Balance isn’t about to get excluded from the conversation. The brand comes in blazing hot this March with a set of attention-grabbing shoe releases poised to light the sneaker world on fire.
On March 5, meet the “Sunset Pack” — a rollout of New Balance x Kawhi Leonard collaborations. The Kawhi Leonard x New Balance 850 comes dressed in Sunset Black, Red and Orange, while the Kawhi Leonard x New Balance 997 Sport (997S) features black and Ginger Pink tones. Both shoes will be available in men’s sizes.
The “Sunset Pack” continues to emphasize New Balance’s foray into the basketball market. The brand has edged its way in with the star power backing of Kawhi Leonard, who originally signed with New Balance in 2018. And while these shoes aren’t his first go-round with the brand, the men’s sneakers come roaring into the new decade with the 28-year-old Clippers star’s seal of approval.
The 997S takes an ombre approach along the shoe’s mesh upper — a late-evening, glow-like treatment that gives way to the stark black toe, midsole, lacing system and tongue. Modern features characterize this shoe. Encap Reveal tech, for instance, adds unparalleled stability and cushioning for those on the go, and the higher top bootie construction provides a snug, custom fit.
The 850, meanwhile, gets a mashup of black overlays along with all-black midsole and outsole. The upper’s mesh punctuates the black tooling with its Ginger Pink effect. The heritage-style retro design of the sneaker includes an ABZORB midsole for total comfort and rollbar posting system that keeps the foot in place.
