Jul 11, 2024

There are more than 500 players in the NBA, which can make it hard to stand out unless you’re the best of the best. In the ever-growing list of NBA stars to watch, there’s Anthony Edwards. Here’s everything you need to know about the Timberwolves shooting guard and his current adidas sneaker collab.

All About Ant-Man

His basketball journey began in Atlanta, where he was born in 2001. Standing at 6 feet, 4 inches, Anthony Edwards’ height put him at an advantage, but he also worked hard, honing his skills on the court. As a top recruit out of his high school program, Edwards then moved over to the University of Georgia, immediately averaging about 19 points per game, which garnered him Freshman of the Year honors in the SEC. His explosive talent didn’t go unnoticed either, and he was the first overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2020 draft.

Anthony Edwards Stats

Across his four-season tenure, Edwards boasts an average of 22.9 points, 4.1 assists and 5.2 rebounds. The 2023–2024 NBA season was really his breakout year, and his scoring average of 27.6 points per game earned him a ranking of 12th in the league. It was this performance, along with his average 6.5 assists and 12.9 rebounds, that solidified his second All-Star status. And his accomplishments just keep piling up.

adidas x Anthony Edwards Shoe Collab

adidas jumped at the chance to sign Ant, collaborating on a signature silhouette that translates his explosiveness into a performance basketball shoe. The AE1 sneakers first dropped in late 2023 in seven colorways, featuring the time-tested Boost midsole and Lightstrike cushioning. We expect to see plenty more of the adidas AE1s on the way in 2024 — including both mid and low editions — over the latter half of the summer and beyond.

Anthony Edwards’ contract with the Timberwolves lasts five years, but the shooting guard will be around a lot longer, and we can’t wait to see what he does next. You may not be the next Anthony Edwards, but you can find all the basketball gear — shoes, jerseys, balls and hoops included — online and in stores at Hibbett.
