The Who’s Who of MLB All-Star Weekend 2024

Jul 3, 2024

Ninety-four years has never looked as good as the 2024 MLB All-Star Weekend does. This nearly century-old tradition is back with a star-studded long weekend of must-watch baseball in Arlington, Texas. Can’t make the trip to the Lone Star State? No problem! The games will be streaming on FOX or the FOX Sports app.

Here’s what you need to know about the events and some of the up-and-coming players you’ll want to keep your eye on.

MLB All-Star American League Lineup

Houston Astros’ Yordan Alvarez has a real shot at the MVP this year, as does the Yankees’ Juan Soto. Don’t discount some of the younger players, either. Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals is making headlines with his shortstop prowess, and the Mariners’ Julio Rodriguez is tearing it up in the outfield. While you’re at it, keep an eye on Tarik Skubal’s pitching. Last year was his breakout season, and there’s a good chance the Tigers’ player will be among the MLB’s elite. As a powerhouse of a home run hitter, Gunnar Henderson of the Orioles is also poised to make a splash during the Home Run Derby.

National League MLB All-Star Weekend Roster

Another electrifying hitter and pitcher is the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani. His teammate Freddie Freeman joins him, along with reigning MVP Bryce Harper of the Phillies. Don’t discount those rookies either. The Braves’ Michael Harris and the Pirates’ Oneil Cruz are thirsty to show off their potential. The Phillies’ Alec Bohm currently leads the league in doubles, so he’s another one to watch, along with Padres’ Manny Machado. When it comes to pitching matchups, keep an eye on the Mets’ Jacob deGrom and the Marlins’ Sandy Alcantara.

While you’re counting down the days until MLB All-Star Weekend 2024, stop into your nearest Hibbett location to find your favorite MLB fan merch, including hats and jerseys. And if you want to hit the ballpark with your kid or just for old time’s sake, pick up new baseball or softball equipment to up your game-day skills.
