The Air Jordan sneaker is still going strong 37 years after its original 1985 release. The latest iteration of this Peter Moore design is heading back to its roots.

This new AJ 37 colorway shines in black, University Red, Metallic Gold and Dark Grey. It’s similar to the infamous “Bred” colorway, which highlights Chicago Bulls colors from MJ’s time with the team. You can enjoy these new basketball shoes in a vintage colorway — men in a low cut and grade school kids in a high cut — starting March 30.

Both the grade school kids’ and men’s versions of this shoe are very similar. One of the biggest differences is the higher ankle on the kids’ shoes. Both utilize a black Lenoweave upper that’s fashioned from West African basket weaving techniques.

The men’s shoe does have a few additional overlays. For example, there’s an overlay that starts at the toe, continues as an eyestay panel and then wraps around the back of the heel. The kids’ shoe, on the other hand, is all Lenoweave across the medial side of the shoe.

Another key difference is the branding details. The kids’ shoe has “AJ XXXVII” printed in red on the inner edge of each toe. In this space, the men’s shoe instead has a black overlay and a red Jumpman on the lowest medial eyestay.

Black and white striped laces cover a black tongue on both shoes. The top of both tongues is a fuzzy red fabric with an embroidered gold Jumpman in the center. The tongue’s backing is black, as is the insole and ankle padding.

The heel features a large red tab that’s sewn down all the way to the midsole. This tab is a bit more textured on the men’s shoe. However, both tabs feature His Airness’ signature and a small black Jumpman at the top.

Under this is the translucent red midsole clip, featuring “AJ ⋮VII” printed on the heel. On the lateral side of each heel is a back Jumpman. The rest of the midsole is a shiny, beveled black. Finally, the textured black rubber outsole features an oversized red Jumpman on the heel.

Kids and men alike will love wearing the AJ 37 in their next basketball matchup. Considering this is a “Bred” lookalike, we recommend you go all in with matching attire. Think black joggers or basketball shorts paired with a red T-shirt or jersey. White or black crew socks will complete the look.

Enjoy modern comfort with the style of the past when you slip on the AJ 37 in black, University Red, Metallic Gold and Dark Grey. Grab it in men’s or grade school kids’ sizes starting March 30, online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.Missed the big drop?
