The Nike VaporMax 2023 Flyknit is a much-anticipated update to a beloved running shoe. Nike skipped updates for 2022 — leaving fans drooling for this reworked silhouette two years later.
The Nike VaporMax 2023 Flyknit “Pure Platinum” keeps things crisp and clean with Pure Platinum and white. It’s simpler than the previous model, getting back to the purer aesthetics of the original 2017 release. You’ll be able to see the differences for yourself when it drops in men’s sizes on April 20.
The Flyknit upper here is a cool-toned light gray with ventilation hole patterns that cover the vamp. You might think it’s white until you see the bright white laces in contrast. These laces fit inside Flyknit eyestays that seem like they’ll offer plenty of stretch if you need it.
Each side of the shoe has a gray Swoosh dyed into the Flyknit — the shoe’s only real decoration. There is some VaporMax branding on the tongue, as well as more VaporMax branding on the translucent heel clip, but it’s kept to a minimum. Even the heel tab is the same monochromatic Pure Platinum color.
Things get turned up a bit with the vibrant insole that features a mix of light blue, dark blue, aqua, silver and white dots. There’s also the Nike Pinwheel logo in black — a sign this shoe is made of recycled materials.
The icy translucent outsole is so reflective that it almost looks like it’s melting. There’s a small white Nike Swoosh on the lateral midfoot. Otherwise, the bottom of the shoe features bubble tread that should help you hold your ground on the streets or trail.
Whether you use it as a running or casual shoe, this variant of the Nike VaporMax Flyknit will need some color to spruce it up. Aqua running shorts and a bright pink tee would be just the splash you need to add life to these one-hit wonders.
This spring, skip the pastels and instead go for a clean finish with the Nike VaporMax 2023 Flyknit “Pure Platinum.” It’s sure to turn heads as you medal in your first 5K of the year.
