The Nike Cross Trainer 3 "Starfish" men's shoe drops May 6 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Since its reemergence from the Nike historical archive back in 2020, the Nike Cross Trainer 3 has been making a name for itself with modern audiences. The 1990 design that was modeled after Bo Jackson's Air Trainer SC High adds a retro touch whether you're wearing them on a long walk or while standing in line for the game.

The latest colorway to drop, the Nike Cross Trainer 3 Low in Starfish, black and white, adds even more of a retro vibe thanks to its classic basketball appearance. It's hitting stores on May 6 in men's sizes.

As we mentioned, this shoe slightly resembles a basketball with both its color scheme and style. A ventilated orange leather upper makes up the base of the shoe, and this pattern resembles the dimpling of a basketball. It's covered with white overlays around the toe box, eyestays and heel, which could be decorative patterns on the metaphorical ball.

A black Swoosh cuts across the lateral middle, wrapping back to the heel branding. This includes a triangular black overlay with Nike Air stitched in white. The heel also has an orange clip for support.

The tongue is black and covered by white laces for visual contrast. Orange Nike branding looks big and bold on the satiny tongue top. The collar is also black, while the insole is orange with black branding.

The midsole is black at the heel then transitions to white around the midfoot. Underneath it, the outsole is a mix of white and orange, along with black Nike accents.

Though it's meant to be a cross-training shoe, we can't unsee the basketball connotations here. That's why we think it'd look best with a faded pair of jeans—that look like they've survived the '90s—along with your favorite vintage basketball jersey or tee.
