Donovan Mitchell’s work with the Cleveland Cavaliers is something to write home about — and chances are, your kids are huge fans.
That’s why they’ll love the adidas D.O.N. Issue #4 in red, yellow and Core Black. Resembling a flame, this shoe looks like it will light up the court. It’s blazing into stores on November 8 in grade school kids’ and preschool kids’ sizes.
The first thing to focus on here is the electric upper. The LIGHTLOCK material starts as black at the heel, then gradually fades to fire-engine red across the middle. At the toe, it then transitions over to bright yellow. The result? Your little one’s feet will look like they’re on fire as they speed down the court.
Bright red laces cinch on top of a red mesh tongue, attached to translucent and wavy red eyestays. There’s also a small lace lockdown tab bearing a yellow “2,” though what that’s in reference to, we’re not entirely sure.
Another perplexing feature is what appears to be the logo from “The Incredibles” movie in red on the tongue branding. Certainly the color scheme fits that of the film. Another hint that this shoe might be a tribute to the franchise is the word “Dash” in red on the lateral side of the heel — one of the superheroes in the Parr family.
At the lateral forefoot, you’ll see the Three Stripes in yellow. There’s also a yellow insert at the midfoot. It interrupts the midsole coloring. Behind it toward the heel, the midsole is all-black with a textured pattern. In front of it toward the toe, the shoe features another ombre effect, going from black to red to yellow. Beneath all of this, there’s a yellow and black outsole — yellow to the midfoot, then black on the heel.
Since these kicks appear to be superhero themed, let your little one go crazy when deciding how to wear this. Obviously, their game gear like basketball shorts and a jersey is a good pick. But if they’re feeling spicy, let them throw on bright red leggings and a red tee to mimic the look of the characters in the film.
Pick up the adidas D.O.N. Issue #4 in red, yellow and Core Black. It’ll be available starting November 8 in grade school kids’ and preschool kids’ sizes, online and at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
