Trae Young is no stranger to boos. Fans of the New York Knicks particularly loathe the player after he helped eliminate their team in the 2021 NBA Playoffs. However, rather than let this hatred get him down, he lets their chanting motivate him both on and off the court.

The adidas Trae Young 2 “Super Villain” is a nod to his hatred fuel. With a sharp black and white colorway, these kicks let everyone know Ice Trae has no problem being the heel. You too can embrace your villainous side when you grab these in men’s sizes on December 23.

Black and white woven mesh covers most of the upper of these basketball shoes. Black covers the back half of the shoe but changes to three black and white stripes across the vamp — perhaps inspired by the clean lines of the Adilette. Finally, the toe is all white.

There are a few accent overlays to keep things interesting. On the lateral side is an off-white suede overlay stitched right above the midsole that resembles rolling hills. Beneath that is a black TPU clip. Then, you’ll see a rounded black overlay right at the midfoot on the medial side. There’s also another off-white suede patch at the top of the toe.

Unique on this shoe is the lack of tongue and short lace box — it doesn’t even reach halfway across the shoe. Black laces string into a black eyelet atop the sock-like ankle. There’s still a tongue tab featuring a yellow “A.”

The heel adds some more fun branding. The black heel tab features the standard Three Stripes in yellow. Beneath that is yet another suede overlay, this time in black. It reads “Young” in an embossed golden print.

A wavy white midsole looks like ocean waves as it cascades around the bottom of the shoe. Under it, you’ll see the chunky white midsole with a few accents. At the forefoot, there’s another Three Stripe homage, with three black lines running under the shoe. At the heel of the medial edge, there’s also an inscription reading “ADIDAS BASKETBALL /// LOS ANGELES, CA TRAE YOUNG 2 /// SIGNATURE SERIES.”

This kick is sure to look killer in your basketball collection. Throw it on with your favorite black basketball shorts and jersey to channel full villain vibes. It’d also look great with black sweats after you finish annihilating everyone’s favorite hero.
