Stars twinkle against the backdrop of a night-black sky, suggesting mysterious galaxies light-years away. In partnership with the OG of space exploration, NASA and adidas‘ Artemis program reaches into the depths of space to further their research into building exceptional footwear for astronauts and athletes alike.
On December 6, the adidas x NASA Artemis Ultraboost 5.0 DNA running shoe drops in two intergalactic colorways for adults — a men’s and women’s Core Black, Iron Metallic and Carbon, and a men’s Halo Silver and Dash Grey. The adidas x NASA Artemis collection is also launching two adidas NMD_R1 colorways for kids’ — a Black/Silver Metallic/Solar Red unisex grade school kids’ rendition and a Halo Silver/Ftwr White/Screaming Pink grade school girls’ shoe.
NASA’s Artemis program aims for a lunar landing with its goal of sending the next man and the first woman to the moon. And while the Ultraboost DNA 5.0 shoe prominently features an Artemis badge on the tongue tag, its sustainable materials turn toward Earth.
The shoe gets a lightweight Primeblue upper, blending Primeknit and Parley Ocean Plastic, a high-performance recycled material derived from waste in coastal communities.
This dependable running shoe is exceptionally lightweight, clocking in around 11 ounces. TPU overlays form the Three Stripes along the sides, while the midsole comprises thousands of energy-returning Boost pellets for a durable, lightweight ride. Speaking of Boost, the technology was sent up into orbit for International Space Station researchers to observe the foam pellets without the distraction of gravity.
This adidas and NASA partnership also aims to provide out-of-this-world durability and comfort for today’s athletes and astronauts. Continental Rubber stretches along the outsole for runs on everything from slick pavement to the dusty surface of the moon.
The grade school kids’ colorways dropping December 6 also incorporate similar stellar technologies and performance construction materials, like adidas’ revolutionary Boost midsole. Reflective details catch the light so little ones can shine like the stars in low-visibility conditions, and a mesh upper contributes to the shoes’ premium ventilation and comfort.
You don’t have to be an astronaut, a scientist, a runner or even an environmentalist to enjoy the benefits of these sustainable men’s adidas shoes. Beginning December 6, shop Hibbett | City Gear for the men’s and women’s adidas x NASA Artemis Ultraboost 5.0 DNA sneakers in the Core Black, Iron Metallic and men’s Carbon and Halo Silver and Dash Grey colorways and the kids’ NMD_R1s in Black/Silver Metallic/Solar Red and Halo Silver/Ftwr White/Screaming Pink.
