Sometimes, good things take time. This latest drop from Jordan Brand was first hinted at in May 2022 — and now, it’s finally making its long-awaited appearance.

The Air Jordan 13 Retro “Playoffs” colorway is a re-release of the original black, white and True Red 1998 design. This is the third time it’s been brought out of the proverbial vault, and it’s hitting stores just in time for All-Star Weekend 2023. You can come this Jordan Retro launch for men, grade school kids, preschool kids and toddler kids starting February 18.

A black suede upper is covered with tumbled black leather overlays across the middle and vamp. These overlays feature dimples to give them some visual texture, catching the shadows and light in a circular pattern.

Black laces strap up in eyelets hidden under the overlays. At the top of the black tongue, there’s a red Jumpman surrounded by a yellow circle. There also appears to be yellow branding at the bottom of the lace box.

A primarily black midsole contains several rounded yellow shapes throughout — a large one at the heel and three smaller ones at the forefoot. Under this is a red and white outsole that stands out whether you’re traversing hardwood or concrete sidewalks.

Perhaps the most iconic part of this shoe is the holographic, black-panther-eye-inspired emblem on the lateral heel. It seems to glow with a surreal green light, showcasing “23” and the legendary Jumpman.

Rounding out the shoe is black trimming around the tongue and ankle, creating a monochromatic look that gives you room to play with color.

These days, the AJ 13 isn’t your best pick for a basketball shoe. Instead, we recommend styling it with casual jeans and a red hoodie. Kids will love pairing it with athletic shorts and their favorite His Airness T-shirt.
