“Go, Ducks, go! Fight, Ducks, fight!” Those are just a few of the lines of “Mighty Oregon,” the fight song for the University of Oregon. Whether you’re a diehard Ducks fan who never misses a game in Autzen Stadium or you just like a good pair of sneakers, the Jordan brand has you covered with its latest release.
Oregon pride converges with the Air Jordan 5 sneaker just in time for back-to-school days. The “AJ 5 Retro Oregon” colorway drops in Apple Green, black and Yellow Strike on September 12.
This perpetually youthful shoe continues to strike all the right chords, even 30 years after the Air Jordn 5’s initial launch. Apple Green saturates the sneaker’s suede upper, which is lined with premium stitching for plenty of richness and depth.
This sneaker edition includes a translucent mesh panel cutout that sits against a black backdrop, which plays perfectly with the Strike Black laces, tongue and midsole. A flare of yellow zigzags along the forefoot area, seamlessly incorporating more of the Ducks’ colors into the sneaker. The shoe’s black tongue has a shiny reflective tint, perfect for photo-worthy finishes, whether on the court, nailing an exam in class or witnessing history-making plays from the stands.
A Jordan jock tab is stitched onto the shoe’s heel, proclaiming the shoe to be part of a line of “Quality products inspired by the greatest basketball player ever.” Check out the shoe’s plush lining and you’ll find an “ELEVATE.” tag sewn on the underside of the tongue. The shoe’s insoles get the Ducks’ yellow treatment, too. The black Jumpman insignia rests just beneath the icy translucent outsole’s herringbone traction pattern, which peeks out along sides of the forefoot for additional durability.
Whether you’re headed back to campus or you’re sitting this season out, cop a pair of the Tinker Hatfield-designed Retro Air Jordan 5 during the shoe’s 30th anniversary year. The “Oregon” men’s sneaker will be available at Hibbett | City Gear beginning September 12.
