When legendary Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield developed the Air Jordan 13, he shared drawings and mockups of what he envisioned for the collaboration with basketball legend Michael Jordan. Describing Jordan’s on-court moves as those of a “big, powerful predatory cat,” Hatfield’s designs were suggestive of a black panther or leopard. Turns out, Jordan’s closest childhood friends often referred to him as “the black cat” for his quick reflexes. The design was perfect.
The original Air Jordan 13s dropped in 1997, featuring an outsole reminiscent of a large paw, while the holograms on the heel and near the ankle represent glowing eyes. That year, while wearing a pair of 13s, Jordan himself won his sixth NBA title and capped off a second three-peat. The first retro run of Air Jordan 13s began in 2004, with several other retro releases in subsequent years.
The latest retro version of the shoe offers a fresh and bold Grey, White and Black colorway. The muted but stylish color combo features the classic AJ Retro 13 silhouette. A grey supple suede upper takes the place of leather and mesh, and white accents embellish the heel and midsole.
Like its prior counterparts, the Grey/White/Black AJ Retro 13s feature responsive heel, forefoot Nike Zoom units and durable rubber outsole pods — all of which maximize reflexes both on court and off. Shop the latest men’s Air Jordan Retro 13 basketball shoes in Grey, Black and White at Hibbett Sports, and rediscover your “Airness.”
