Michael Jordan’s graduation from the University of North Carolina to the Chicago Bulls is a moment etched in the history books — so much that Jordan Brand recently released an AJ1 “UNC to Chicago” colorway. Now, that same colorway is moving on to the AJ 2.

The Air Jordan 2 Retro Low “UNC to Chicago” features a white and Sail base with Fire Red and Dark Powder Blue accents — colors that are key to the teams involved. It’s an absolute must-have for fans of MJ’s early career and launch into stardom. This women’s exclusive is hitting stores on March 8.

The all-white leather upper looks crisp and clean, with ventilation holes cut in a ring around the vamp. You’ll notice red piping that cuts down through the middle and curves toward the toe on each side of the shoe, an obvious nod to the red of the Bulls.

That same red appears on the original Air Jordan Wings logo front and center on the white tongue. Paired with white laces and white ankle padding, it makes a bold statement. But not so fast — red isn’t the only color we see here. There’s a bright baby blue panel on the spined heel reminiscent of Tar Heels blue.

These colors come together in a few places on the shoe to represent the transition of His Airness’ career. You’ll notice the blue insole features red Nike Air branding. Then, on the Sail outsole, there’s a red pattern on the forefoot and a blue pattern on the heel. In between these elements is another Nike logo.

The midsole is also Sail and wraps uniformly around the shoe. There is also a Sail heel clip that comes up just below the blue panel. We love the way this retro shoe looks with white crew socks and some basketball shorts. You won’t be using them to game with, obviously, but they’re still best paired with casual, chill threads.
