Sneaker Release: Air Jordan Retro 13 “Lakers”

Michael Jordan’s exceptional athletic abilities and talent helped make him into a sports icon. To demonstrate MJ’s cat-like reflexes and speed, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield based his design for the AJ 13 on predatory cats. Nike designed the sole after a panther’s paw print and added holograms on the bottom and by the ankle as if they were a giant cat’s glowing eyes. The “Black Cat” — Jordan’s childhood nickname — achieved another “three-peat” and won his sixth NBA title while wearing the 13s. With the addition of a mesh upper, unique sole and holographic bubble, these kicks deliver one of the more unique designs from the Air Jordan catalog.

Though Lakers fans aren’t celebrating another championship (or playoff appearance), they can still look good in a pair of AJ Retro 13 “Lakers” basketball shoes in the White colorway. The sneakers feature a woven upper, along with an encapsulated Air-Sole unit under the heel that provides durable comfort. The Phylon midsole delivers lightweight cushioning, while the herringbone outsole gives great traction and control.
