Midnight Navy is one of those collectible colors that comes around only once in a blue moon. Well this spring, Jordan Brand is bringing back the coveted colorway in a Georgetown University Hoyas aesthetic just in time for March Madness.
The Air Jordan 3 Retro white and Cement Grey “Midnight Navy” edition releases on March 20. These heritage-style sneakers will be available in infant, preschool, grade school kids’ and men’s sizes, so you can outfit the whole family for the NCAA tournament.
The Air Jordan 3 was Tinker Hatfield’s first foray into the world of all things Air Jordan. It also became a shoe of many other firsts like the first to debut a visible Air-Sole unit in the heel, the first-ever sneaker with a Jumpman insignia and the first time an elephant print outlined a shoe.
The “Midnight Navy” rendition of this retro basketball-turned-lifestyle sneaker offers an upper composed of smooth and tumbled leathers swathed in that rich Midnight Navy tone. A shiny navy heel counter keeps the foot in place whether you’re a player, fan or collector.
Crackled, Cement Grey elephant print fringes the toe box and outlines the heel’s sides. Playing off the textured print, Cement Grey adorns the collar, lacing system and sneaker’s throat, with dozens of breathable perforations punctuating these features.
Both the white laces weaving throughout the lacing system and the white foam midsole — with visible Air and encapsulated Air in the forefoot — add to this sneaker’s collegiate presence.
Midnight Navy extends to the Jumpman logo on the tongue and Jordan branding on the grey rubber outsole, with its varied traction patterns and blue concentric-circle pivot point. These Georgetown-inspired sneakers come in a complementing box that features Midnight Navy packaging edged on one side with Cement Grey elephant texture.
