Feeling nostalgic? Jordan Brand is too as they launch the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Stealth 2.0,” a retooling of the original “Stealth” AJ 5, which dropped in 2006 and featured a predominantly white color palette with touches of blue, grey and translucent yellow.
The Jordan 5 Retro “Stealth 2.0” arrives March 27 in a white, Stealth Black and Hyper Royal rendition and will be available in infant, preschool, grade school kids’ and men’s sizes.
Much like the clandestine fighter planes of the World War II era that inspired the jagged, shark-tooth-like zigzags along the Jordan 5’s sides, this shoe is all about the details that make it a force both on the court and off.
The Jordan’s white upper consists of a blend of tumbled and smooth leathers and curvilinear overlays double-stitched along the heel, toe and sides of the sneaker. Its inlaid hoops-inspired TPU mesh comes in tonal white as well, while the midsole lands in a light grey. Zigzags along the sides feature Stealth Black lightly flecked with Hyper Royal splatters.
White mesh composes the shoe’s throat before giving way to a blue lace toggle and silver tongue with an elegant Jumpman silhouette embroidered in blue. The bump-out collar lends additional padded protection to the ankles, while a Stealth Black Jumpman adorns the heel. Other touches of Hyper Royal play out along the outsole, sockliner and insole.
Tinker Hatfield designed these shoes in 1990 with a translucent outsole overlay, TPU mesh net siding, visible Air unit in the heel and another concealed in the forefoot. Since then, this basketball shoe has stealthily stepped off the court and become both a lifestyle shoe and a status symbol.
