Sneakers Release – Jordan 8 Retro “White/Hyper Blue/Black/Grey” Women’s Shoe

Dec 1, 2020

This holiday season needs to be all about comfort, whether it’s comfortable styles, comfort food, feel-good music, or in-your-feels TV … whatever. Embrace the uncertainty of 2020 by relying on your favorite home for the holidays hits, classic movies and cozy fits get you through the 2020 holidays.

For a shoe that hits all that meets all those marks and more, look under the tree for the latest release from Jordan Brand, a women’s-exclusive Jordan 8 dropping December 4 in an ice-white and burgundy colorway characterized by a snowy white upper and with hints of Hyper Blue, black, Flint Grey and Beetroot.

Before we talk about this particular colorway, let’s dig into a brief history of this spectacular sneaker. If ever a shoe screamed “early ’90s,” it’s the Air Jordan 8, which was originally released during the 1992–1993 NBA season. This Tinker Hatfield design is the only shoe in the Jordan portfolio with crossover straps that lay atop the laces. Jumpman fans sometimes call these kicks “Bugs Bunnies” for the straps, which vaguely resemble bunny ears.

And while Jordan hit plenty of career milestones while sporting these sneaks (his historic three-peat, for one), these shoes proved how much the brand could stand on its own. That’s part of the reason for the notably absent Nike branding.

This particular women’s rendition of the Air Jordan 8 Retro includes a white genuine and synthetic leather upper, complete with breathable holes punctuating the sneaker’s sides. The white midfoot cross-straps enhance lockdown, and the encapsulated heel Air-Sole unit delivers exceptionally lightweight cushioning. The dark grey and burgundy hues play out along the foam midsole, while a stitched-on overlay at the shoe’s sides gets a distinctly ’90s pattern, mixing all of the sneaker’s wintry tones.

The shoe’s heel comes trimmed in a luxe, light-grey suede with a chenille patch on the tongue. Both of these features introduce even more texture into a shoe brimming with textures and tones.

Comfort and style aren’t either-or propositions. Embrace both with the nostalgic vibes of the Air Jordan 8 Retro “Burgundy” shoe. Shop this throwback women’s sneaker at Hibbett | City Gear starting December 4.
