The Jordan XXXVII “Black/True Red/Club Purple” men’s basketball shoe drops October 13 at Hibbett | City Gear.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 37 years since Michael Jordan first graced us with his presence on the hardwood — and in your wardrobe. The 37th edition of the Air Jordan has had some interesting colorways, including this upcoming one.
The Jordan 37 “Raptors” pays tribute to the colors of the Toronto Raptors. While MJ never played for Toronto, this isn’t a new concept for the brand — we’ve seen a similar colorway before on the Jordan 7 (from which this shoe takes inspiration).
The upper is a mix of black Leno-Weave and leather, creating a slick base. Leather circles the bottom of the shoe from the heel to the toe, while Leno-Weave fills in the rest. It’s a type of lightweight mesh that showcases the white support structures underneath.
Black laces strap up over a mostly black tongue. The tongue branding, however, uses a white, gray and black lightning bolt pattern along with red edging. It features a classic Jumpman in red. You’ll see that same color scheme and motif on the insole.
Red lines the ankle padding as well, wrapping around to the purple suede heel tab. This features three bits of branding: His Airness’ signature in red, a red Jumpman and AJ 37 etching in gray.
The sole is where Toronto’s colors really come into play. You’ll notice bits of purple, red and gold across the midsole and outsole. When you flip the shoe over, red, gold and black are the prominent colors in the traction pattern, along with an embedded purple Jumpman on the heel.
This shoe is the perfect mix of old and new Jordan. Your kid will love wearing them to their next big game on the hardwood. We can picture them pairing them with basketball shorts and their team’s jersey — especially if their colors match one of the colors found on the shoe.
The new Jordan 37 “Raptors” sneaker looks like it will be a huge hit for streetwear enthusiasts and basketball players alike. Grab yours in men’s sizes starting October 13, online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
