A new year, a new you? How about a new pair of brightly colored sneakers to set the tone for 2021?

Beginning January 15, Nike and LeBron James invite you to connect with the Nike LeBron 18 in a new “Multicolor” colorway, featuring a dizzying array of purples, Chlorine Blue, reds, oranges, blacks, whites and grays. These basketball sneakers will be offered in toddler, preschool, grade school boys’ and men’s sizes.

This 18th iteration in the LeBron lineup launched in 2020, the creation of Nike designer Jason Petrie. His goal was to come up with a sneaker that featured the perfect balance of power, force and speed.

The predominantly lavender-purple upper is comprised of Knitposite 2.0 material — a textile that combines Battleknit and Knitposite for an even lighter weight, more breathable take on an upper. Wearers get added forefoot stability, thanks to a tonal cable system that begins at the midsole and zig-zags up to the laces. The actual lacing system gets concealed within the Knitposite 2.0 fabric, save for a few subtle cable eye stays on the outside.

The round cable laces criss-cross a unique tongue composed of translucent Nike Air bubbles — pockets of padding with colorful graphics embedded into each. Small black Swooshes adorn the shoe’s toe, while larger, textured aqua Swooshes on the medial side of the sneaker are set against a black backdrop. The sneaker’s colorblocked midsole is white in the front and black in the back, setting the stage for an oversized black heel clip, speckled in a tonal black, with white rectangular cutouts.

A visible Max Air unit in the heel comes in orange and works in tandem with the full-length Zoom Air unit. An inner bootie allows the shoe to slip on easily and slide off with ease, too. A translucent outsole rests atop a white and orange backdrop and features a diamond, generative traction pattern.
