The New Balance Kawhi 2 “Ocean Blue” men’s basketball shoe drops May 13 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard is known for his shut-down defense on the court—all while staying stoic and reserved. That’s likely because he saves his emotion for contributing to his signature line with New Balance.

The Kawhi 2 dropped in March, and The Claw had a big hand in its design. His goal was to create a basketball shoe that reflects him as both a person and an athlete…and it looks like he’s succeeded. The shoe is lightweight and explosive—much like the two-time NBA champion.

Previous colorways have included a Kawhi 2 “New Money” shoe and a Kawhi 2 “Palmistry” shoe, but it looks like the designs aren’t stopping there. A third colorway— titled the Kawhi 2 “Ocean Blue”—is set to drop on May 13 in men’s sizes.

Based on what we’ve seen from the previous Kawhi 2 drops, expect an upper made of Fit Weave Lite designed with Kinetic Stitch. Fit Weave Lite is a signature New Balance mesh material that’s light, see-through, and offers lockdown and support. Kinetic Stretch, on the other hand, is an engineered thread application that offers superior control. A full-length outsole shank runs across the bottom in a swirled pattern, which adds plenty of extra bounce to your step.

The shoe will also have a TPU plate at the heel with big and bold New Balance branding. There’ll also be a lace-up closure on top of traditional tongue branding.

The Kawhi 2 “Ocean Blue” promises to be a shoe all fans of The Claw won’t want to miss. Grab them in men’s sizes starting May 13, online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
