Sneakers Release – New Nike LeBron XIX “Grey Fog” Men’s and Boys’ Colorway Drops May 15

Even world-class athletes like LeBron James indulge in junk food now and again. While his diet usually consists of lean protein and other healthy food, King James’ favorite pre-game meal is chicken and shrimp pasta, of all things. He also has a taste for greasy treats like pizza, fries, burgers and more, all of which the latest colorway to join the LeBron Sneakerdom pays homage to.

The LeBron XIX Grey Fog/Roma Green/Total Orange “colorway launches in men’s, grade school, preschool and toddler kids’ sizes on May 15.

A little on the abstract side, why did LeBron choose to feature food on his performance basketball shoes? We can’t say for sure, but we do know he’s been known to support and back certain fast food chains. In fact, James invested in the popular chain Blaze Pizza, which helped to skyrocket them into fame across the country. He’s also known for his advertisements with McDonald’s that feature him dunking McNuggets. This particular colorway may be a nod to those partnerships.

A Grey Fog neoprene mesh covers most of the LeBron 19’s upper, but beneath this see-through surface, a wild fast food motif covers the entire shoe. We can see these details more clearly on the tongue, which isn’t covered with the mesh. Tiny graphics of pretzels, hot dogs, tortilla chips, popsicles and more float haphazardly on a fresh white background. Accenting these fun graphics are the sneaker’s Total Orange laces, fed through a flexible sculpted arch strap.

Peering through the translucent mid-foot arch piece is a florescent orange LeBron James crown insignia and a teal Nike Swoosh near the ankle. This branding is also present on the shoe’s tongue, near the toe.

Upon closer inspection of the translucent midsole, wearers can get a clear look at the dual-chambered Max Air units that comprise the LeBron 19‘s cushioning system, while a bright orange outsole offers a dynamic blast of color on the sneaker’s underbelly.

Additional fast-food icons continue towards the back of the “Grey Fog” colorway, barely visible beneath what looks like frosted rubber design panels at the heel. These graphic elements pop at the ankle as well via the patterned sockliner and padding. Inside the shoe, a brown-toned insole features additional textural elements and wording.

Because of the brightness of this shoe, we’d recommend styling them with dark and neutral apparel and accessories. Black basketball shorts or joggers would help these kicks pop, as would a black tank or track jacket. For some fun, you might even pair these with a T-shirt featuring your favorite fast food restaurant’s logo.
