Black is back in a big way this fall. (But then again, it was never really “out,” was it?) When you’re looking for versatile, effortlessly cool, modern shoes that impart gravitas on the court, what better way to impart your seriousness for the sport than with black basketball sneakers?

This October, connect with two new black sneaker colorways from Nike. While Nike’s PG 4 shoes released in a formidable “Triple Black” palette on October 1, the Nike Air Foamposite One rolls out October 15 in an “Anthracite” colorway. The Nike Air Foamposite One’s “Anthracite” is a rerelease of a 2007 favorite. The night-black Foamposite shell upper gets its texture from sculpted wavy, striped detailing. These embellishments give way to all-black suede eyestays, lacing system, a mesh tongue and subtle Nike branding. The outsole also lands in black. The only hint of another hue comes by way of the forefoot piece with its dark-grey dotted detailing.

The PG 4’s colorway marks the first all-black sneaker in this silhouette. The “Triple Black” shoe hits all the right notes with its blend of black, Metallic Dark Grey and Cool Grey. The Paul George-inspired sneaker retains its tightly woven mesh on the lateral sides, which opens up to a looser weave on the medial. The shoe’s zippered shell conceals its laces and has a futuristic feel, perhaps owing to the metallic grey Swooshes and triangular overlays. Dark grey heel pieces include George’s initials, while the rubber outsole combines all three tones in a sleek, marbled pattern.

With lightweight uppers, Zoom Air units and plenty of energy-returning technology, both the “Anthracite” Nike Air Foamposite One and the “Triple Black” Nike PG 4 sneakers are made expressly for play on or off the court.
