If you’re not familiar with the N7 line, it came into being in the mid-2000s as a way to help Native Americans lead happier, healthier lives with more positive outcomes.
The N7 name comes from the Native American belief that we need to consider the impact of our decisions on the seventh generation. And Nike’s N7 Fund awards grants to communities and organizations of indigenous and Native American populations.
Its N7 sneaker lineup seamlessly blends that heritage with innovative designs. Take, for instance, the Nike Air Max 95 N7, an eye-catching shoe complete with a shaggy, olive-green faux fur lining. Contemporary design commingles with vintage-style colors as comforting as your grandma’s 1970s living room. Olive-green shag-rug liner aside, the classic Air Max 95 upper includes an undulating layer of green atop dark grey, burnt sienna suede above green, and an off-white layer topped with an off-white wool texture.
A fuzzy off-white and green tongue gives the appearance of that crackling “snow” screen that appears after the TV’s cable cuts off for the evening, and mauve-colored eyelets anchor the off-white tubular laces.
The striated upper comes to rest above a crisp, white foam midsole with maroon peeking through the Air units. The pinnacle of this busy sneaker is the granny-chic olive-green removable pouch that sits on each tongue.
