Little ones looking to make a big difference in the world now have a shoe to support them.

The Nike Crater Impact — which is part of Nike’s Move to Zero initiative — will now be available in two colorways for kids: Light Bone/Black/Volt and Summit White/Grey Fog/Platinum Tint. These shoes will be available in toddler, preschool and grade school kids’ sizes starting April 30.

The adult-sized version of this shoe hit stores on April 15, but not much changed on the kids’ model. Most importantly, it’s one of Nike’s most eco-friendly models to date, made from at least 20% recycled materials by weight. The pinwheel logo, the official icon on Nike’s sustainability efforts, on the insole confirms that.

One of those recycled materials is the 15% Nike Grind outsole — a speckled rubber that’s made of old, unsellable shoes to create a grippy and durable traction pattern. And in the midsole, supportive Crater foam is constructed out of scraps for a fun look that’s also highly supportive for growing feet.

Even the parts of the shoe that aren’t crafted with reused materials are eco-conscious. The upper utilizes straight-edged overlays to make construction more efficient and reduce waste. Plus, the embroidered gray Swoosh uses fewer materials while giving off the same iconic vibes.

The shoe’s designers took conservation seriously. That’s why they limited their sample requests and made all sketches electronically to help prevent extra waste. They created an excellent track-inspired shoe that kids will love whether they’re on the court or sprinting through the park with friends.

And since kids love color, this style delivers. While the upper is mainly in a muted Light Bone palette, pops of Volt adorn the heel and insole. A black lace guard and heel tab complete the look for a vibe that’s both chill and commanding at the same time.
