Fifty years, five decades, 18,250 days — how do you measure a half-century of innovation? Meet the Nike “First Use” pack, a collection of sneakers honoring June 18, 1971, the date Nike trademarked its famous Swoosh icon. As part of this celebration pack, the Nike Dunk High drops in a “First Use” colorway of Green Noise, Sail and Light Bone. This sneaker will be available on August 10 (50 years and some change since 1971) in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes.

This Dunk High sneaker joins some of the most iconic Nike silhouettes of all time in a mass release of “First Use” iterations. Among these styles are the Air Force 1, Nike Air Max 90, Blazer and VaporMax Evo.

Kelly green, or “Green Noise,” laces provide the shoe’s focal point with their richly saturated tone. The lateral side’s Swoosh is simply an embroidered green outline, and “First Use June 18, 1971” phrasing appears in white. The medial side gets a classic tumbled-leather, filled-in Swoosh.

The leather upper is Nike’s signature Sail tone, complete with Bone-colored suede overlays that trim the lacing system, mudguards and sides of the heel. Underfoot rubber gets a Sail finish, with a white midsole sandwiched between the upper and outsole.

While sparse in overall color, it’s the luxe, retro touches that make this sneaker a must-cop launch this year. The Nike Dunk High “First Use” features shiny metallic gold locks halfway up the laces, vintage Nike branding on the nylon tongue tag and white insoles bearing the “Original Logo Trademark Filing” design. The underside of the nylon tongue tag denotes Nike’s humble beginnings and 50 years of history.
