Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets has earned his place among basketball royalty. The NBA point guard and shooting guard’s rein on the court and in the sneaker sphere continues this month with the release of his latest basketball sneaker: The Grand Purple and White Kyrie 6.
Beginning December 7, these head-turning kicks will be available in men’s, grade-school and preschool kids’ sizes at your premium performance and fashion footwear retailer, Hibbett | City Gear.
Nike introduced the Kyrie 6 collection at the start of the 2019-2020 NBA season. The always-dynamic 6s were built expressly for Irving’s on-the-court play, with all the comfort, energy return and performance-enhancing technology required for game-winning moves. The purple upper and velcro closer characterizes the Grand Purple colorway, artfully incorporating the color across a variety of materials, including breathable knit and suede for plenty of textured appeal. The deep purple hue extends to the shoe’s liner, laces, midsole and tongue for a fit-for-a-king look.
An oversized padded collar, heel piece and ankle overlay give this shoe a hefty appearance without the weight of vintage basketball shoes. Yellow, blue, green and pink intersect on the tongue to form the Kyrie Irving brand logo, with complementing, cleverly placed multicolor stitching embellishing the lacing system. The heel counter is one of the most striking elements of this release, with its vibrant pink color and textured all-seeing-eye logo.
The Kyrie 6 marks the first Irving iteration featuring the midfoot lockdown strap since the release of the Kyrie 2s. Like many of the 6’s features, this strap is where substance and style meet. The locked-in feel the strap facilitates gives players of all stripes incredible stability so they can drive the ball where it needs to go in iconic Irving style.
The curved Air Zoom Turbo unit under the ball of the foot allows for even more responsiveness given its strategic placement.
White rubber outsoles with microtextures in the forefoot region keep a player’s feet on the court and in the game for on-the-dime stops and quick cuts in and out of traffic. Another staple in Kyrie design, the outsole material extends up the basketball shoe’s sidewall.
Pick up a pair of these grade school kids’, preschool and men’s versions of Mr. Fourth Quarter’s basketball shoes at Hibbett | City Gear. Beginning December 7, anyone can lace up a pair of Nike Kyrie 6s in the Great Purple and White palette.
