In honor of “Indigenous Peoples’ Day,” formerly celebrated as Columbus Day, Nike and Kyrie Irving are releasing a special N7 edition of the Kyrie 6. Paying tribute to Irving’s own Native American heritage, the Nike Kyrie 6 launches in an N7 “Black, Pure Platinum and Citron Pulse” colorway on October 12.
The colorway’s story is deeply rooted in Irving’s Lakota Native American heritage and his Standing Rock Sioux tribe name “Hela,” featuring elements like 3D detailing along the silhouette’s trademark midfoot strap. The raised bead-like texture mimics naming ceremony gifts presented to Irving and his sister in 2018 when they were officially welcomed into the Standing Rock Tribe, of which his late mother, grandparents and great grandparents were all members before him.
Green, yellow and orange hues featured prominently on the colorway’s accents and branding honor the vibrant colors found most often in Native American works of art. Personal touches such as mountain iconography and Kyrie’s Native name “Hela,” which translates to “Little Mountain,” appear on the outer tongue of one sneaker in the pair, while the Nike N7 logo decorates the other. “In Every Deliberation We Must Consider The Impact Of Our Decisions On The Seventh Generation,” displays on the underbelly of the Kyrie 6’s midfoot strap.
The Kyrie line‘s signature All Seeing Eye logo is ever present on the heel counters of this special N7 release, as is the All Seeing Eye and multi-angle blade outsole traction pattern. Zoom Air cushioning adds unparalleled comfort while the mid-height collar with adjustable strap lets wearer’s personalize their fit for perfect performance.
