After signing a four-year, $154 million contract to play with the Lakers in 2018, LeBron James‘ on-court cachet has added even more star power to the already-storied Los Angeles team.
This May, ballers and sneakerheads can snag a pair of LeBron 17 Lows in a new Lakers palette. Dressed in the team’s “Sunday White” uniform colors, the LeBron 17 Low basketball shoes come in men’s sizes that feature an all-over white shoe with notes of Voltage Purple and Dynamic Yellow.
Whether you’re playing pickup on a Sunday afternoon or a game in the gym on a Friday morning, these fresh sneakers, designed by Nike’s Jason Petrie, can take your skills to the next level.
While previous iterations of the LeBron 17 employ Knitposite technology — heat-molded yarn blended with Flyknit material — this edition plays it straight with the Knitposite material playing second fiddle. The “Lakers Home” shoe features a wraparound white overlay studded with breathable perforations. While this creates plenty of nuanced texture, it also lends the shoe added structure and shape.
Tasteful Voltage Purple appointments anoint the sockliner and sneaker’s lacing system and offer a gradient effect along the midsole, which fades to white toward the toe. Voltage Purple LeBron and Nike branding stand out against the clean backdrop of the men’s sneaker.
Flywire cables work in tandem with laces to create a snug, locked-in fit, while the shoe’s low-cut bootie contributes to the form-fitting comfort of the LeBron sneaker. The oversized Max Air unit in the heel, specifically built for King James, takes on the Dynamic Yellow tone while providing similarly dynamic energy return underfoot.
Two soft foam pods — directly under the forefoot Max Air unit — generate shock absorption, speed and bounce. The foot-stabilizing clear molded overlay placed along the back of the midsole gives additional support during fast play. Nike React technology lends lightweight, resilient cushioning to the sneaker. And, finally, an articulated rubber outsole with flex grooves ensures lightning-quick directional changes and explosive play.
