The function-first aesthetic in the Nike LeBron 17 basketball sneakers captures this extraordinary skill and the force-field style that makes Lebron a leader.
On May 8, players and sneakerheads can score the latest iteration of Nike LeBron 17 kicks in a University Red, white and black “Uptempo” colorway in men’s sizes.
Designed by longtime Nike collaborator James Petri, the LeBron 17 “Uptempo” men’s basketball sneakers highlight King James’ confident energy and style while staying on task with comfort and performance. Petri’s refined design provides comfortable structural support combined with a maximum cushion setup that balances energy-packed spring and stability.
Vibrant University Red uppers feature Flyknit construction and heat-molded yarns that deliver a futuristic look and form-fitting feel. Their dragon-scale-like appearance fades to a one-dimensional silhouette at the toe tip, merging unique styling with unparalleled movement and flexibility.
The KnitPosite technology locks in the feet, while also providing a fresh, out-of-the-box broken-in fit and feel. Strategic hardshell support pieces from the heel through the forefoot increase lift-off.
The incredibly lightweight innovative uppers are matched with Nike’s largest heel Max Air unit. Designed for fast-paced action and specifically for The Akron Hammer himself, the overall effect is secure and quick-off-the-ground responsiveness.
A finely tuned midsole provides unique hybrid cushioning reinforced with a TPU plate for balance. The giant, visible Max Air unit in the heel pairs with two Zoom Air pods in the forefoot to generate shock absorption, speed and bounce. Stability outriggers on the forefoot lateral Zoom Air unit and the rear Air Max unit bolster the cloud-like ride.
An additional soft Phylon foam pod under the Max Air unit further optimizes cushioning. Flex-grooved and wear-resistant rubber outsoles offer a solid underfoot foundation while ensuring lightning-quick directional change, explosive drive, powerful cuts and reliable traction.
The inset plastic heel counter, which wraps around the heels to protect and stabilize, features the reverse Swoosh on each shoe.
Additional elements include asymmetrical lacing, a traditional LeBron-styled tongue, wide collars and heel pull tabs for easy on and off. LeBron’s name emblazoned in white on each of the ventilated tongues, logo imprinting on the removable EVA footbeds and a logo inset on the LeBron-specific outsole pattern complete the signature styling.
