Reebok is stepping up its basketball sneaker game in 2020. This fall, the brand is poised to release its “Alternates” pack, a collection of sneakers that mimics the colors of alternate NBA uniforms.
Beginning November 20, sneaker fans and basketball players can cop both the men’s Reebok Question Mid in the “76ers Alternate” colorway, which pays tribute to the Philadelphia team’s alternate uniform, and the men’s red and black “Sonics Alternate” Reebok Kamikaze II that represents a throwback SuperSonics alternate red uniform from the 1990s.
Sonics player Shawn Kemp wore the Kamikaze mid-top sneakers throughout the height of his playing career in the mid-’90s. The Reebok Kamikaze II features a Mars Red mix of tumbled leather and soft nubuck along the upper with a black toe box and vamp. Black sonic-wave-like zig-zags feature along the shoe’s sides. An EVA midsole gives the sneaker its lightweight cushioning, working with the honeycomb-like Hexalite cushioning that maximizes comfort and shock absorption.
The Reebok Question Mids in the “76ers Alternate” palette finds a sweet spot with black, yellow and Flare Red. In his day, Allen “The Answer” Iverson broke records in these Reebok sneakers. This shoe’s upper combines a satiny-sheen textile, gold suede toe and full-grain leather. Like its Kamikaze counterpart, the men’s Question basketball shoe includes an EVA midsole and visible hexagonal cushioning that softens shock. The high-abrasion-resistant rubber outsole contributes to the sneaker’s durable responsiveness. At the same time, the Iverson-inspired Question logo plays out along the heel and sockliner, and classic Reebok branding appears on the eyestays and shoe’s sides.
Mainstream is boring. This November, get excited about the “Alternates” pack of sneakers. Pick up a pair of the Reebok Question Mid “76ers Alternate” and the Kamikaze II “Sonics Alternate” from Hibbett | City Gear starting November 20.
