Sneakers Release-“Scarlet/Team Navy” adidas D.O.N. Issue #2 Drops Feb. 12

Feb 8, 2021

When Donovan Mitchell entered the big leagues in 2017, it was clear from the start he was a bonafide star. That same season, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Fast forward to 2020 and Mitchell was doing big things both on and off the court, including releasing the second iteration of his signature sneaker line, the adidas D.O.N. Issue #2.

Now the basketball shoe that helps Spida control the ball on the court will be available in a new colorway, just in time for the upcoming NBA All-Star Game. The adidas D.O.N. Issue #2 basketball sneaker drops in a Scarlet and Team Navy colorway on February 12 in preschool kids’, grade school kids’ and men’s sizes.

What makes this shoe distinct is the stunning Scarlet hue that swaths its entire upper, lightly embossed with a web pattern that pays homage to Mitchell’s penchant for dunking. The laces of the unique cord lacing system, which expertly holds feet in place during sharp turns and pivots, are the same eye-catching color.

The shoe’s monochromatic look is interrupted only by the midsole’s sleek Team Navy waves. Mimicking Mitchell’s own touch of flair on the court, pops of Golden Metallic appear on the tongue in the form of the adidas logo and “Issue #2,” written out in all caps across the lacing system. adidas’ signature Three Stripes stands out in Scarlet along the inner heel.

The subtle touches of clever design don’t stop there. The outsole’s web-patterned tread is lined with travel stamps from cities across the world — including the Utah Jazz‘s very own Salt Lake City. Each location has personal significance to Mitchell, such as the Louisville stamp, which pays tribute to his time with the Cardinals.

Inside the shoe, you’ll find the signature features that set the D.O.N. Issue #2 apart, including flexible Bounce cushioning that makes hitting the earth after an impressive slam dunk a little easier. An internal half-bootie construction keeps feet locked down, making it a great feature for kids who are still figuring out their Spida Spins on the court.
