Basketball superstar Joel Embiid knows a thing or two about being an all-star. He’s been part of the NBA’s All-Star Game three times so far in his four-year career with the Philadelphia 76ers. 

This year Embiid is celebrating being one of the best centers in the league by bringing a new colorway his Under Armour Embiid 1 signature sneaker line. The ocean and sky blue-colored “UA Embiid 1 23.11.3” drops February 12 in both men’s and grade school boys’ sizes.

As a basketball shoe, the Embiid One is just as powerful and explosive as its 7-feet-tall namesake. Designer Reggie Wilson had some unique challenges designing kicks for a large player with unprecedented mobility. That’s where features like the TPU wing and lightweight textile upper with an open-hole mesh come into play.

These elements work together to create a breathable fit that also locks down the midfoot for superior support when planting on a pivot. The inside of the shoe is equally inventive. It features a Micro G foam midsole that provides both explosive power and a cushioned landing on jump shots. There’s also a die-cut EVA sockliner for extra support after a long day on the court.

Additional design features on the inside of the Embiid 1 all star-inspired sneaker include “LA 2018” printed on the left insole, an homage to the baller’s first All-Star Game appearance, and a nod to his 2017-2018 regular season 22.9 points per game average on the right.

The outside of the shoe also reflects some of Emiid’s personal achievements and design input. You’ll find the rubber outsole’s unique traction pattern features the names of cities, chosen by The Process himself, embedded in the pattern, which is intended to give the wearer optimum grip during lateral movements.

While this colorway celebrates Embiid’s achievements in his young career, it’s sure to be only the beginning of his greatness. Find the Under Armour Embiid One blue and white sneakers in men’s and grade school boys’ sizes starting February 12 online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
